Dear world,

I want to welcome you all to my new blog page. After much deliberation I have given in to the allure of WordPress and have decided to host the blog on my own domain. Some of you know that I have had good luck with my new hosting server (Linux) and plan to be here for a while, so that played a part in this decision as well. For those interested in my older posts, I will leave the old blog live for as long as possible at http://www.robertsphotography.blogspot.com.

The Pic above was a panorama I did on Sunday near the San Diego airport at the harbor. Panoramic stitch was made in PTGui, with which I am utterly impressed. Tomorrow I plan to shoot for an article about using flash, both the built in kind as well as bounce flash and elementary studio lighting. Bear with me as I figure out the controls in WordPress! Thanks for reading.

Rob

  1. Thanks so much for the how-to posts. For a newbe like me they are a godsend.

  2. Excellent site. Great photos and terrific blog generously sharing good tips. I shoot a lot of custom knives and someone in that world suggested I check out your site. Very nice! I think your portraits are especially nice.

  3. Buddy- thanks very much for checking it out. I have seen some of your work in the knife magazines and its very good stuff. I’ll be in Chicago shooting in Coop’s place this year, if you make it to the show, be sure stop by and say hello.
    Best,
    Rob

  4. Nice work. Regarding the facebook optimising aren’t modern flat screen monitors 96ppi not 72. 72 was for old CRT monitors wasn’t it?

  5. Thanks Nward- naw its arbitrary really, the monitor only cares about pixel dimensions not ppi. You can set it however you want and it won’t make a darn bit of difference! (unless you print it) Setting it to something like 600 makes a bigger less convenient file, however.
